Deputy Secretary-General of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Abdul Mun'im DZ called on the Nahdliyin (NU followers) to help the government continue preserving tolerance, especially ahed of the 2014 general elections.<>
"Nahdliyin should be able to color themselves with an attitude that highly preserves tolerance and mutual respect and honor," Mun'im told NU Online here on Monday, adding that the Nahdliyin should also keep away from the behavior that wants to bring down and blaspheme with each other.
Mun'im called for the importance of all parties, especially the Nahdliyin to keep away from anarchic acts, detrimental rallies and defamation which smear the tolerance sphere.
Mun'im made the remarks following the president's call in encouraging religious communities to preserve tolerance and security and orderliness when attending the celebration of the National Dharma Shanti Hindu Day of Silence here on Sunday.
"On this good occasion, I call on religious leaders in the country, including Hindu leaders, to help maintain religious harmony," President Yudhoyono said.
