The 11th congress of the sufi orders of Nahdlatul Ulama so-called Jam `iyya Ahlit Thoriqoh Al Mu'tabaroh An Nahdliyyah (Jatman) at al Munawwariyah Islamic boarding school, Bululawang, Malang, has declared two new wings of the organization, namey the Students of Ahlit Tariqa Al Mu'tabarah 'An Nahdliyyah MATAN) the Muslimat Thariqiyyah for Muslim women. The two organizations will expectedly be synergized with the Indonesian Islamic Students Movement (PMII) and Muslimat NU.

"Never think that the emergence of both MATAN and Muslimat Thariqiyyah will rival the PMII and Muslimat NU. We hope that the long-standing organizations (PMII and Muslimat NU) will be able to guide these new organizations. We will always work together. With the increasing number of well-organized movements of NU in various lines, then NU will be even greater, "said Secretary of the Committee Hamdani Mu'in before the congress' participants, here on Friday (13 / 1).

According to Hamdani who is also Deputy Secretary General of the Central Board of Jatman, both the MATAN and the Muslimat Thariqiyyah are a solution of the importance of regenerating and recruiting whose whoa are interested in sufi orders especiay for students and senior Muslim women.

"So far we have been concerned with the various contradictions in student circles. For example, when they often call for a moral movement, among the students themselves are also involved in activities which are away from morality, such as walkway fights and demonstrations that use violence," he said.

He added that the MATAN was also expected to provide fresh air for the development of sufi orders in campuses and minimize any possible radical movement among the students.

Hamdani also called on the MATAN whose young members are still energetic to actively organize various activities in terms of tariqa locally, nationally and internationally.

On that occasion general chairman of the Jatman KH Habib Luthfi bin Ali Yahya mandated to board members in regions to immediately set up the MATAN organizations. (nam)
