The Islamic University of Jember (UIJ) should focus on developing itself as best as possible to be a bona fide college and a pride for Nahdliyin (NU followers). <>
Chairman of the Lawmaking Body of the Jember's Branch Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) KH Muhyiddin Abdusshomad made the remarks at a meeting held by the Education Foundation of Nahdlatul Ulama (YPNU) in the university's auditorium on Tuesday (12/8).
According to Muhyiddin, the UIJ is de facto and de jure wholly owned NU following a decision recently taken by the Indonesian Minister of Justice and Human Rights.
"Now we no longer be bothered with internal issues, especially about the ownership of UIJ. In this case, the UIJ is supposed to be growing faster. Now it is fully owned by NU Jember. Unlike in the past in which its ownership was claimed by some NU elements," he said, adding that chairman of the Jember's PCNU would also be chairman of YPNU.
Muhyiddin was thankful to God for the UIJ has already shown encouraging progress. It could be seen from the involvement of subdistrict-level NU boards for having facilitated the freshman admissions process recently.
"So the Nahdliyin have felt really proud of having the UIJ, and this is very positive. Therefore, we should be able to match them with better services and complete facilities," he said.
